Five steps to your perfect interview
Planning your interview for your new job? Then look at these tips to help you get that job.
1. Understand and research the industry you are going in.
Use all the tools that are available to you i.e. The internet, industry magazines, newspaper articles, company packs etc.
If possible talk to people who work there or indeed deal with the company.
2. Understand and research the company you want to work for.
What are its strengths and weaknesses against its competitors?
3. Research Your Role
Find out what you can about the department and job you are going to.
What attracts you to it?
What is the department's function and how does it fit into the company.
4. Create a crib sheet
Create a crib sheet with all the key information on it and read it three times a day until the interview.
5. Role-play the interview
Role-play the interview with a friend who will challenge you.
6. Ensure you dress to impress.
Ensure you dress to impress. A smart and appropriate outfit and polished shoes.
